Using a wing needle, you'll create a very delicate, pretty texture to your fabric. What's a wing needle you say? It's a large sewing needle that is wide on the sides. The "wings" of the needle create holes in the fabric. As crazy as that sounds, it's a very pretty affect when combined with special decorative stitches. Wing needle work is traditionally used in heirloom type pieces. However, I like to "think outside the box" and try new things. While you could easily embroider these butterflies in traditional tone-on-tone colors for the look of heirloom, I wanted to play with happy, fun colors. The choice is up to you!
