Not spraying in the hoop is recommended but hoops still get sticky. Here is how to clean them.
Have you ever noticed how nice and clean Bonnie’s hoops are? The adorable pig from Farm Buddies shows a hoop that looks like new. (Bonnie's tip: "I never spray in my hoop. I always spray on the stabilizer first, layer the fabric on top, and then hoop all together in the hoop.")
We recently discussed ways to prevent your hoops from getting sticky. Even if you avoid spraying temporary adhesive in your hoops, they still can get tacky. Residue, from the pieces we spray and press in place as well as from tape, can build up over time. I don’t spray in my hoops but still have to clean them periodically.
I recently read a social media post discussing different cleaning methods. In her blog on cleaning hacks, WD-40 is one of Bonnie’s favorites and she is not alone. I prefer non-acetone nail polish remover. (Bonnie's tip: Lay dirty hoop on rag, saturate the hoop with W-D40 and let sit for 30 minutes or so. Wipes clean easily and doesn't dry out your hoop.)

- Alcohol
- Shaving cream
- Goo Gone
- Lemon essential oil
- Hand sanitizer
- Simple Green
- Mr. Clean wipes
- Baby wipes
- Fabuloso
The most popular cleaner of choice for this group was Totally Awesome from Dollar General or Family Dollar.
With tongue in cheek, some said, “Why clean it? It helps to hold the fabric in place!”

I use. LECTRIC SHAVE. It’s cheap and works great. Yes that is a man’s shaving product. I put it in a spray bottle. Depending on how much adhesive on your hoops. I spray the hoops and let it sit for a few minutes then wipe with a rag. If needed repeat. Usually it only take once. Smells good and not greasy
