Create a cute Easter decoration using a wire frame and Bonnie’s embroidered eggs!
I found an orange wire carrot at the Dollar Tree recently and thought it would be a unique way to display some of Bonnie’s Sew Eggsquisite eggs.
I decided to stitch them on cream colored felt to mimic eggshells and highlight the pretty embroidery. You could also stitch Eggsquisite Jewels, which are machine applique designs suitable for GlitterFlex.
My felt wasn’t the best quality. Wool felt is ideal as it has more body. In retrospect, I would glue an additional layer of felt on the back of the eggs to make them a bit stiffer.
So that each egg stands alone, use design editing software to open designs of your choice. I used Embrilliance and chose designs 1, 5, and 10, eliminating the ornate gold embroidery framing each egg. Some dot accents were also deleted so that the only designs left were the eggs themself.
All three edited eggs were then combined in one hoop and saved as both working and stitch files.
I floated felt in the hoop by spraying the back of the felt with a temporary adhesive and finger pressing onto a medium-weight tear-away stabilizer.
After embroidery, I removed stabilizer and trimmed around each egg leaving about an eighth of an inch of felt showing around the outside edge.
I used some wide woven ribbon and created a bow around the top of the carrot. First, tie ribbon around the carrot frame and knot it.
Overlap both tails of the ribbon across the center knot to form loops. Cut another piece of ribbon long enough to roll up and tie around the center of the ribbon loops from the back to complete the bow.
Adhere the eggs to the carrot using glue or tape, hang, and enjoy!
