Finally, Easter is within sight! With all of the lousy weather this winter, this project will add some sparkle to brighten your home.

When I first saw these gorgeous design collections, I knew I had to try them. Sew Eggsquisite (left) is a beautifully digitized combination of decorative embroidery and thread painting with metallic accents.

Eggsquisite Jewels (right) is an applique design that kicks things up a notch with the addition of GlitterFlex. Of course, you can use regular fabric for the egg applique, but why?

While waiting for my GlitterFlex to arrive, I pulled out my angelina hot fix fibers and gave them a try. They are extremely fine strips of cut mylar that fuse together when heated with an iron or heat press.

The resulting fiber piece is tacked town and trimmed away, just as if it were applique fabric or GlitterFlex, during embroidery of the egg.

I embroidered my egg on a piece of felted wool and added a border of lace. The angelina applique provides a subtle shimmer.

I also added hot fix crystals to the dot accents around the outer edge of the design. Quick, easy, and oh, so pretty.
