Just Bloom: Keeping Text in Position With Embrilliance

As I was working on a new project using Bonnie’s new Butterfly Buddies, I learned a little trick that I wanted to share. I use Embrilliance software for basic design editing and adding text. (Note from Bonnie: This trick Debbie explains would work in most any program you use.)  I have shared text with you for several projects. One thing I have not been able to do is to save the text in a specific place. I can save it if it is centered but if I place it in a specific place, it becomes centered when I resave it in Embrilliance. Until now.

 

I will use Bonnie’s Enchanted Flowers as an example. I opened Enchanted Flower 3. It automatically opens to the center of your hoop.

I will add some text, “Just Bloom” in a pretty script.

You will notice, especially with cursive text, that the letters do not space evenly and need adjusted. This blog shows you how to make those adjustments.

Normally, when I share text with you for projects, it is centered. This text will be offset. I will delete the flower, because it is a copyright violation to share designs. That leaves only the text.

If I save the file this way, it opens in the very center of the hoop. You can certainly still use the file, just embroider the flower and print out the template and place it where you want it on your hooped item and move your needle to the center of template, and stitch out the text. It is much easier for the text to stitch where you want it.

This tip was from Lisa Shaw, Sew Bubbles, infamous Embrilliance guru and teacher. By adding a basting box, you can keep your text where it belongs.

Go to the Utility Menu and choose Baste Hoop. Embrilliance will add a basting box around the inside of the hoop and that keeps the text from moving to center hoop.

That doesn’t mean that you have to stitch it. The basting box shows as black in your color stops. Just skip it when you embroider the text.
