Merry Christmas to All Merry Makers!

Did you complete your stitched gifts on time? I certainly hope so! There is something so comforting about finishing your Christmas gift stitching ahead of schedule. We make things to share love and joy with others. When it becomes a chore, it takes the fun out of making merry.

We often place such high expectations on ourselves during what is typically one of the busiest times of the year that there is sometimes no way to succeed. In the past, I have often had plans that didn’t come to fruition until the next holiday season. Mostly I just ran out of time. More like poor planning. It’s not like Christmas doesn’t come at the same time every year, right?

My family celebrated on Christmas eve this year and despite being sick for a couple of weeks I was fortunate in that I only had four things I was making for gifts and I finished them without a late-night marathon.

I made hooded bath towels for each of the three grands and they loved them! (You can find the tutorial I used here.) The pattern is straightforward and stitched up very easily. All you need is a bath towel and a hand towel. I embroidered something very specific on the hoods for each child. Any of Bonnie’s Animal Buddies, Car Buddies, Train Buddies, or Airplane Adventures would be adorable if you would like to make your own!

The fourth item was a stocking for our three-year-old grandson. I didn’t get it made last year and I hated that. It matched his brother’s stocking; and although he didn’t miss it last year, he was so happy to be able to use it this year.

This season makes me especially thankful for all the blessings in my life. I appreciate having the ability to make things for those I love.

I also appreciate being able to share my machine embroidery passion with all of you. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a new year filled with many blessings!

I did 47 kitchen towels and 6 pairs of pjs. Your ideas of what you made were great for my next year every year I say I’m gonna do one thing a month and then I’ll be that much closer when December comes next year. Congratulations on your accomplishments.

Thanks. Good to hear others don’t always finish in time. I needed to hear that this year. Happy New Year.
