Resolutions for Machine Embroiderers 2024

Another year has come and gone. What do you resolve to do differently in your machine embroidery, quilting, and sewing practices?

Resolutions come in all shapes and sizes. We can strive to improve an existing skill or learn something entirely new. You may want to learn how to use new equipment or make something special.

Last year, I made three machine embroidery resolutions. First, I resolved to better organize my sewing room. I accomplished that chore somewhat, but it is not in what I consider top shape just yet. You can read about some tips for getting started here. The blog includes links for organizing all parts of your sewing area including thread, fabric, and patterns and instruction sheets.

Another resolution was to organize and backup my machine embroidery designs. I also accomplished that task somewhat but there is still a lot to do.

The third one was to try end-to-end quilting. I didn’t get that far so it is going on my 2024 list for sure. If you are interested in learning more about quilting with your embroidery machine and a magnetic hoop, Bonnie has a couple of great blogs and videos on how to do just that.

Start with making a template and progress to using those templates to perform the quilting technique right in your hoop from edge to edge on your own materials.

As far as new resolutions for this year, I must make a cover for my embroidery machine. No putting that off any longer. It should be straightforward enough, just a matter of making it happen.

I also want to figure out how to use my Cameo cutting machine. I’ve had it several years and have yet to use it. That’s unacceptable. Bonnie has several great blogs on using cutting machines, tips for using cutting machines for appliques, and cutting GlitterFlex with a cutting machine.

What are your machine embroidery goals for the coming year? If there is something new you would like to learn, we may be able to help!

Wishing you a happy and healthy new year filled with many blessings!

Resolution #1 purchase embroidery designs I’ve been wanting for a very long time.

I love end to end quilting! It’s how I quilt all my quilts. Thanks to that I don’t need nor want a quilting machine and the magnetic frames are a must for doing that! I’m with you as far as my cutting machine. I’ve used it briefly years ago! I’m afraid to even look/ hear about the new cutting machines. All that learning that goes with it scares me to death. I could be more organized and will look into your tips. Thanks
