Use GlitterFlex on Quilted Material? Yes, You Can!

GlitterFlex Designs on Quilts SewInspiredByBonnie.com

Love the look of applique quilts but not the block piecing and quilting part? Or maybe you simply don't have the time? Here is a great shortcut!

So many of Bonnie’s customers have made such lovely quilts using her GlitterFlex applique embroidery designs. The embroidery part is fun, but not all of us have the time, inclination, or skill to piece, quilt, and bind the actual quilt. If you would like to do the same thing, but are not fond of actually making the quilt, these blanks are a convenient alternative.

Two blankets by Linda Scott were recently shared on Bonnie’s Facebook page. Linda used blank heirloom quilts from Little Bits Embroidery Blanks.

A quick internet search provides several sources for these quilts in a variety of color and border combinations.

Linda floated the quilt in the hoop on a tear-away stabilizer. The Santa Buddies designs were super adorable stitched on a white blanket with buffalo check border.

She followed Bonnie’s directions for fusing GlitterFlex and found that, due to the layers of fabric, batting and backing, she had to fuse a little longer than she would with just one layer of quilting cotton. Linda did get a GlitterFlex bump that wasn’t entirely fused after embroidery. She ironed it after completing the stitching and it smoothed out nicely.

Linda also stitched Santa Buddies on two stockings, added names and buttons, and they couldn’t be cuter.

Thank you, so much, for sharing Linda!

It just so happens that I have been working on a quilting project myself. Check back to see how you can incorporate quilting with your GlitterFlex designs from Sew Inspired by Bonnie!
