Another Option for Sharpening Scissors

Some dealers no longer sharpen scissors. So what is the alternative?

We all need to get our scissors sharpened from time to time. It is an especially good idea before the busy season of holiday sewing is upon us. Some dealers provide this service but many of them do not. I also know that some of you live too far from a dealer to just run in for sharpening. It is different if you are already getting your machine serviced. So what do you do? Ask your hairdresser!

Find out when the next scissor sharpening service is scheduled at your salon. Properly functioning shears are vital to cosmetologists as they make or break a haircut. So sharpening services are regularly scheduled, maybe even more often than dealerships or fabric stores.

Good scissors can be expensive. As a precision tool, not just anybody can sharpen them properly, so it pays to use a professional. Proper maintenance and sharpening on a regular basis significantly extends the life of your scissors.

Many salons receive sharpening services on site, which is so much better than sending your scissors away for sharpening.

So, ask your hairdresser about including your scissors in their next sharpening event. Nine times out of ten, they're very reasonable and don't mind the extra business. Sometimes we have to think outside the box and get creative. This just provides another option for getting your scissors sharpened.

Have a day blessed with perfect stitches and GlitterFlex!!
